Evan Hastings is a theatre artist, group process facilitator, and educator with 20 years experience. Evan has an MA in Counselling Psychology with a concentration in Drama Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco, CA, USA and a BA in Performance Education from the Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA, USA. Evan has taught at Project Zero in the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Lesley University, The Evergreen State College in the USA and Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology in India. He founded Shadow Liberation, a participatory shadow theatre initiative that has engaged diverse audiences in dialogue across 17 countries in Asia, Europe, the Middle East & North America. Evan designs and facilitates creative group processes in challenging contexts including correctional facilities, refugee camps, war zones, school violence, and in urban/rural communities. Evan has received support for his work from the Garden of Hope Foundation in Taiwan, India Foundation for the Arts, US Consulate Shanghai, GIZ and the Burning Man Global Arts Grant.
